Responsibilities of a SchoolsPLP Virtual Instructor

• The Virtual Instructor's role is to communicate with the students.
• Check and respond to messages within 24 hours Monday through Friday.*
• Grade and provide feedback for instructor-graded assignments within 48 hours Monday through Friday.*
• Provide additional communication and support based on student attendance, participation, and success.
• Use the SchoolsPLP internal communication system to provide positive reinforcement and encouragement.
• Notify SchoolsPLP Program Coordinator when student is fully disengaged.
• Notify SchoolsPLP Program Coordinator about plagiarism, cheating, and any concerns.
• Notify SchoolsPLP Program Coordinator regarding mandatory reporting procedures.

*Except on school, state, or federal holidays

Attributes of a SchoolsPLP Virtual Instructor

• Have the technical ability to provide online synchronous instruction.
• Clear, articulate verbal and written communication is required.
• Display patience with student learning curves (technology, audio recordings, video recordings from students).
• Written communication must be grammatically correct when addressing school/district staff and students.
• All teachers follow their state department of education code of ethics.

SchoolsPLP Virtual Instructor requirements

• Teaching credentials
• Fingerprint clearance cards and state background check
• Prior teaching experience - both in-person and virtual
• References
• Copy of current driver's license or current state identification card
• Social Security Card
• Computer with microphone and web camera with high-speed internet access, Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections*
